Lori Rockwood

Licensed Professional Counselor

Lori Rockwood is a Licensed Professional Counselor-Supervisor, LPC-S.  She has a Masters Degree in Counseling and a Masters Degree in Mid-Management, both from Tarleton State University. While she currently has a private practice in McGregor,  Lori began her career coaching and teaching at Copperas Cove High School, then transitioned to a Counselor at Windham School District-TDCJ. Following her time in Windham, she worked at the Hughes Unit, a men’s maximum-security unit in Gatesville, for 6 years, then Woodman State Jail for women in Gatesville as a Counselor and Principal for 9 years. Following, Lori worked for Belton ISD at Belton High School as an Assistant Principal, Associate Principal, and then the Career and Technology Director; she worked part-time for a counseling agency in Temple from 2006-2008.  

In December 2012, she opened her private practice part-time and transitioned to full-time in 2015. She has worked with group homes, the Children's Advocacy Center, residential treatment centers, Department of Family and Protective Services, and members of the military community.  

Early in her private practice, she provided Equine Assisted Therapy for approximately 5 years, and was EAGALA  and OK Corral Series certified. Lori is currently the mental health consultant for Hill Country Community Action Association HeadStart (HCCAA).  

She currently supervises one Licensed Professional Counselor Associate and three Tarleton graduate students. Three Independent Contract therapists also work with her group. Along with her office in McGregor, she has offices in Allen, Texas and Killeen, Texas.  Her group also provides services to an emergency shelter for girls and partners with China Spring ISD and Gatesville ISD providing school-based services to their students.  

Lori is married and has 2 children, one attending LSU and the other a journeyman electrician in Austin. Lori is very passionate about Equine Therapy and is very excited about the opportunity to be a part of this program.
